So in Alice there are certain areas that alcohol is not allowed. I know how contentious a subject that this is but the truth of the matter is, it's needed. There's still a lot of alcohol abuse over here and generally speaking the only thing that is thrown around to deal with the problem is money. Really maybe social services should be enforced.
Even when you buy alcohol you need to show your license so that it can be scanned in to a computer system and away it goes. If you buy too much grog, then that's it, you're cut off. While it's an odd thing for most people to see, it's pretty common for those of us in Alice to see signs like this everywhere especially on aboriginal communities.
As a southerner, it is interesting to hear your view on this.
ReplyDeleteIt has it's good and bad sides. Less violence out in the communities but it isn't uncommon to see two or three alcohol/drug related murders a month in Alice now.
ReplyDeleteMeaning a simple change of drinking venue? Sad. I am starting to think there is no solution to this.Sacrifice these two generations and hope education reduces the dependency in the next generation. Not simple, obviously.
ReplyDeleteNot even close to simple. It's just a shame to see the kids running around at three in the morning and breaking in to peoples houses for food
